Southern Black Hills – Horses and Mammoths and Bison, Oh My!

Love scenery and wildlife viewing?  Want to see wild horses, a free roaming herd of Bison, a gathering of extinct mammals and look for other wild animals?  Want to visit a Wild Horse Sanctuary, an ancient fossil site, a National Park and a State Park all in the same day?  Then the Southern Hill Tour may be the one for you.  This tour concentrates on animals, scenery and how the animals of the area have changed over time.  You will travel across the landscape and through time to enjoy the present and understand the past.  Both the present and the past will come to life before your eyes.

  1. Visit the Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary – located 20 miles south of Hot Springs, SD.  The Sanctuary is home to a large herd of wild horses.  The Visitor Center and horse corrals are our primary destination.  You may make arrangements for an extended tour in their vehicles for a closer look at the horses on their open range;
  2. Take a tour at the Mammoth Site – an ancient sink hole that attracted and trapped over 70 Mammoths and other Ice Age animals that freely roamed the area.  This site is a National Natural Landmark.  It is an on-going paleontology dig and an intriguing experience for all ages;
  3. Drive through Wind Cave National Park and Custer State Park to view the wildlife and enjoy the scenery.

Prices vary depending on the number of guests, destinations, and pick up and drop-off points.  We are known for providing personal and meaningful experiences.  Please call for a free personalized tour plan and prices.

Prices include all entry fees and admissions, incidental snacks and beverages, but not meals or souvenirs. Larger groups and children under 16 years of age are eligible for substantial discounts.

This is a day long tour with usual pickups between 8 & 9 am and drop-offs between 5 & 6 pm.

Private tours may choose optional times.

Our Honda Pilot 4WD SUV is equipped with leather seats, sunroof and a great sound system. The vehicle was chosen primarily for its roominess, smooth & quiet ride, comfortable seats and large windows.

This is a great choice for private tours, families and small groups.

The Honda Pilot is excellent for extended journeys and multi-day trips.

Dodge Sprinter

The Dodge Sprinter is European-engineered and American-made.  It offers an unprecedented level of refinement and utility in a unique package.  With over 6 feet of interior height and comfortable seats, there is plenty of head and elbow room for everyone.  The large windows afford plenty of viewing space for the scenery and sights.

A maximum of 9 passengers keeps the tour lively yet intimate.  This vehicle is a joy to tour in.
